Terms of Service

Last updated: March 7, 2026

Agreement

By using MapToArt (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time, continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

What We Offer

MapToArt sells map posters generated from real city geometry. You can buy a ready-made design (as a digital download or as a printed poster produced and shipped by our print partner) or configure a custom poster (city, theme, size) that is rendered after purchase and delivered as a downloadable PNG, SVG or PDF file.

Pricing and Payment

We offer three pricing tiers:

  • Singleone poster download
  • Bundlethree poster downloads
  • Studioten poster downloads

Prices are displayed in EUR and may also be shown in your local currency based on your browser locale. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time. Price changes do not affect orders already placed.

Refund Policy

  • Before download: full refund available within 14 days of purchase if the poster has not been downloaded.
  • After download: refunds are granted at our discretion, as the digital product has been delivered.
  • Printed posters: you may return a printed poster within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. The poster must be new (unused, in its original packaging). Contact us by replying to your order email; we provide a downloadable return label and the return by mail is free of charge. Refunds are processed within 7 days of receiving the return.
  • Failed renders: if the poster generation fails and we are unable to deliver your file, you will receive a full refund automatically.
  • Bundle/Studio credits: unused credits are eligible for a prorated refund within 14 days of purchase.

To request a refund, contact us at info@maptoart.com with your order details.

License and Usage

What you can do

  • Download and print your purchased posters for personal use
  • Display printed posters in your home, office, or as gifts
  • Use posters in personal, non-commercial projects

What you cannot do

  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense generated poster files
  • Use posters in commercial products for sale (e.g., prints for resale, merchandise)
  • Claim ownership of the underlying map data or poster design system
  • Use automated tools to bulk-generate posters or abuse the preview system

Each purchase grants a personal use license for the downloaded poster(s). This license is non-transferable and non-exclusive.

Map Data and Attribution

Posters are generated using map data from OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). High-resolution posters include an attribution watermark as required by the license. You must not remove this attribution.

City search is powered by the Nominatim geocoding service, which is part of the OpenStreetMap ecosystem.

Service Availability

MapToArt is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We strive to keep the service running smoothly but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages from time to time.

We are not liable for any losses resulting from service downtime, including delayed poster delivery. If a render fails due to a service issue on our end, we will either re-render your poster or issue a full refund.

Intellectual Property

The MapToArt brand, website design, poster rendering engine, and theme designs are owned by MapToArt. The poster rendering system is powered by the open-source maptoart library (MIT License).

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MapToArt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the specific order in question.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures
  • Overload or interfere with the Service through automated requests or denial-of-service attacks
  • Reverse-engineer the rendering pipeline or attempt to extract the rendering software

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms.
